About the role:
Harry’s Premier Store is looking for a motivated and commercially focused Sales Manager to drive sales performance,
improve customer engagement, and develop local business opportunities. This role aligns with SOC 3556 (Sales Accounts and Business Development Managers) and will suit someone who can combine hands-on retail leadership with strong reporting, planning, and relationship management.
Key responsibilities:
Liaise with senior management to agree the range of goods to be sold, ensuring the right mix of food,beverages and tobacco products based on customer demand and profitability.
Contribute to sales strategy, including setting and delivering sales targets, and improving sales performance across key product categories.
Manage and oversee offers, seasonal campaigns, bundle deals, and local marketing activity, ensuring correctsetup, pricing accuracy, signage, and strong execution on the shop floor.
Discuss customer requirements, gather feedback, and analyse customer reactions to product range, packaging, pricing and promotions, recommending improvements to maximise sales.
Compile and analyse sales figures and performance reports (daily/weekly/monthly), identifying trends and providing recommendations to senior management.
Undertake market and competitor research, monitoring competitors’ prices, offers and product activity, andkeeping up to date with products and market changes.
Handle and develop customer accounts/relationships, promoting repeat business and resolving service issues professionally.
Manage customer complaints promptly and effectively, investigating issues, providing suitable resolutions, and implementing actions to prevent recurrence while maintaining high customer service standards.
Oversee stock management, ensuring appropriate stock levels, minimising out-of-stocks, monitoring fast/slow-moving items, and supporting ordering decisions to reduce waste and improve availability.
Ensure accurate stock control processes, including receiving deliveries, checking invoices, maintaining correct pricing/labels, and reducing losses through good stock discipline.
Recruit, train and supervise junior staff involved in sales activity, coaching them on customer service,upselling, product knowledge, and correct promotion/stock procedures.
Produce reports and recommendations on sales, promotions, stock performance and customer feedback forsenior management to support business decisions.
What we’re looking for Essential:
Experience in a sales, retail, account handling, or business development role (convenience retail preferred).
Strong communication and relationship-building skills (customers, local clients, suppliers, and internalstakeholders).
Confident using sales data to produce reports and make practical recommendations.
Ability to lead, motivate, and train team members.
Well organised, target-driven, and able to work in a fast-paced retail environment.
Desirable:
Experience planning/implementing promotions and local marketing initiatives.
Understanding of product mix, merchandising, and pricing in convenience retail.
Good IT skills (e.g., spreadsheets/reporting tools and POS-related reporting).What we offer
